“This was my second visit with Dr. Routhier and I was again impressed by her intelligence, skill and her willingness to listen to my concerns and needs as I wait for an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon. Another, and equally important impression I want to comment on was her overall manner. She was friendly and approachable (but always professional), never condescending and pedantic. We discussed information that I had read on the Slocum website about the surgery and assured me that I would be considered as a candidate for surgery at Slocum rather than at a hospital despite my age if I met other criteria. When I told her that I wanted to be in as good physical shape as possible before the surgery and that I was hesitant to take classes because of pain and mobility constraints, she prescribed physical therapy to help me achieve this goal. I want to comment as well on Natalie Snyder, my physical therapist at Slocum. I have only had 2 sessions with Natalie, and the stretches and strengthening exercises, she has given me, her attention to proper form, as well as her suggestions to help me with daily life activities have already helped me with mobility and decreased my general pain level.
