Slocum Center doctors advance research to improve knee replacement outcomes

September / 23 / 2016

Brian A. Jewett, MD, Brick A. Lantz, MD, and Steven N. Shah, MD, knee replacement surgeons at Slocum Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, collaborated with University of Oregon researchers to study the effect of amino acid supplements on a patient’s recovery from a total knee replacement.

Dr. Jewett and Dr. Shah coauthored the findings, which will be detailed in the November 13 issue of the Journal of Clinical Investigation. Their research could lead to quicker recoveries and more efficient pain relief for the growing number of patients who require total knee replacement.
