Slocum Doctors Contribute to Research on Speeding Knee Surgery Recovery

September / 23 / 2016

Brian A. Jewett, MD, Brick A. Lantz, MD, and Steven N. Shah, MD, knee replacement surgeons at Slocum Center for Orthopedics Sports Medicine, collaborated with University of Oregon researchers to study the effects of essential amino acids on a patient’s recovery from a total knee replacement.

The research is outlined in the Spring 2014 issue of Cascade Magazine, the alumni magazine for the University of Oregon College of Arts and Sciences. Their research could lead to quicker recoveries and more efficient pain relief for the growing number of patients who require total knee replacement.
