Slocum Shines at FOOD For Lane County’s Empty Bowl’s Auction

October / 8 / 2024

Slocum Orthopedics recently joined the community in supporting FOOD For Lane County’s (FFLC) 21st Annual Empty Bowl’s Auction. The event, which took place on September 28th at the Lane Events Center, was a resounding success, raising over $387,000 for hunger relief in our community.

Dr. David Bear, along with his wife Dr. Ami Bear, served as this year’s auction chairs, bringing their passion for community service and hunger relief to the forefront. Dr. Bear’s enthusiasm for space exploration inspired the event’s “Starry Night” theme, creating a magical atmosphere for the guests in attendance.

“Ami and I are honored to be this year’s event chairs,” said Dr. Bear in his opening remarks. “We already knew that FFLC has a positive impact on our community, but we had no idea just how many people are helped and how many programs it oversees.”

In addition to Dr. Bear’s involvement, Slocum hosted a table at the event and sponsored the evening’s thank you gift for attendees. This support aligns with Slocum’s belief in “effective giving” – ensuring that contributions make a real, measurable difference in the community.

“For me, FFLC encompasses all the attributes of effective giving,” Dr. Bear explained. “I know when I donate to this organization, that I am truly making a positive impact on our community.” Slocum Orthopedics is proud to support initiatives like FOOD For Lane County that contribute to the overall health and wellness of our community. We believe that by addressing fundamental needs such as food security, we can help build a stronger, healthier Lane County for all.
