Description
This position relieves the provider of clerical duties, thus allowing them to focus primarily on the patient and provide more efficient and accurate care. The position includes:
1. Documenting patient visits in real-time, including the history, physical exam, assessment, and plan
2. Transcribe real-time provider dictations, including imaging studies and treatment plans
3. Locate and summarize significant past medical, surgical, family, and social history from previous charts or outside records
4. Locate and record relevant previous treatment modalities and share with the provider
5. Understanding of ICD-10 codes
6. Understanding of outpatient billing and coding
Requirements
1. Knowledge of medical terminology, background in anatomy strongly desired
2. Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program
3. Typing speed of >50 wpm
4. Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail
Summary
This position relieves the provider of clerical duties to improve patient care while increasing efficiency and accuracy. The scribe does not touch patients or provide direct patient care.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Documenting information for every patient visit under the supervision of a physician
2. Selecting an ICD-10 diagnosis code for each visit
3. Billing the office visit for the appropriate level
