Description
- In charge of planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive medical practice Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program including utilization management, risk management, and patient safety initiatives.
- Programs CQI with each individual department and educates management and directors on implementation of quality techniques with aim to create a culture of quality.
- Creates and maintains Dashboard of key metrics for internal benchmarking
- Works with outside organizations on benchmarking metrics
- Monitors medical practice efforts to ensure compliance with internal and external QI standards.
- Works with staff, management, and physicians to support patient safety work and reporting.
- Runs reports, analyzes data, prepares slides and presents on CQI initiatives, making recommendations for projects and/or process changes
- Coordinates the effort to gather data from different locations and prepare reports (e.g. run charts) for internal and external benchmarking
- Finds opportunities to implement QI methodology to improve the practice
- Monitors utilization and service quality through diagnosis-related group (DRG) review, HEDIS quality measures, payer/provider/patient satisfaction surveys, and complaints.
- Responsible for Total Joint Arthroplasty Quality reporting in coordination with local hospital QI departments
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Knowledge of CQI principles, practices, methods, and tools.
- Expertise in data analysis utilizing tool of choice (R, Stata, Python etc.)
- Experience using dashboard to create tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience using SQL for data extraction
- Understanding and experience utilizing of electronic medical records
- Knowledge of ICD10 coding, CPT codes, and HIPAA standards
- Understanding of payors, revenue cycle, practice administration
Skills
- Facilitator of CQI efforts in medical practice.
- Application of analytical methods and statistical software by developing appropriate reports.
- Employment, analysis, and reporting of survey data.
Abilities
- Able to identify projects, collect data, analyze data, build reports and dashboards, present data and translate this information into actionable items for the team.
- Ability to educate staff in both verbal and written form about QI in formal and informal settings.
- Ability to interact effectively with health care team members.
- Bachelor’s degree health administration or health-related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in quality improvement (QI) coordination.
- ASQ certification or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare related setting, preferable with history of 2 years in a management position
