Description
Slocum Orthopedics is currently recruiting a full-time Cast Tech. This position works closely with the physicians, physician assistants and other cast techs performing essential duties associated with casting and splinting patients.
This position requires an understanding of anatomy, physiology, surgical procedures and patient education. Casting, fracture management, and DME experience preferred but not required. Certified Medical Assistants, Athletic Trainers, EMTs, Medical Office clinicians, and similar levels of experience welcome to apply. On-the-job shadowing and training will be provided for this position.
Requirements
- Applies and removes casts and splints for orthopedic patients as directed by a provider.
- Removes sutures and stitches from incisions
- Assists with simple wound care as trained
- Evaluates potential new equipment and processes
- Cross trains in other areas and assists with other medical duties as appropriate
- Documents patient care through the Nextgen EMR System.
- Assists patients on/off casting table
