Description
- Act as the front-line interface to users, receive trouble calls, diagnose, and repair hardware and software. Assist personnel in developing technology solutions
- Support a “Mid-sized Network”, running Microsoft Operating Systems in a Microsoft Active Directory Domain
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair networked servers, client computers, printers, print servers, terminals, routers, and switches
- Configure and maintain:
- Primary and Backup Domain controllers, member file and print servers
- License managers and Data backup systems
- Microsoft Exchange Server and related email filtering technology
- Microsoft Internet Information Server (corporate intranet)
- Slocum internet website using Applicable Content Management System
- Cisco VoIP Phone System
- Email encryption technology
- Remote access VPNs and Authentication servers
- Medical PACS servers and clients
- Web filtering/management server
- Apple MAC Servers and mobile clients
- Develop and maintain Corporate Intranet Web pages
- Provide training to staff on hardware and software procedures, policies, privacy and security issues
- Maintain a current hardware, software and licensing inventory
- Maintain information systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations and industry security “Best Practices”
- Occasional weekend and evening work, including on-call IT support on a rotating assignment
- Order, setup, and configure new hardware such as monitors, new computers, docking stations and projectors
- Create and manage users in AD environment and other linked systems (EHR, Outlook mail, Joints, etc)
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements

- A solid understanding of all Microsoft Operating Systems (from Windows 7 up to and including the most recent versions); understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices, device drivers, file system concepts, can use performance analysis to tune systems
- A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts; thorough understanding of routing, client/server computing, and the design of consistent network-wide file system layouts
- Experience with component-level diagnostics and repair of computer systems

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Able to walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Able to reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to hear and understand in person and over the phone.
- Able to speak and provide information in person and over the phone.
- Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Be able to work on a computer and keyboard for up to eight hours a day.
Travel required
- Occasional travel between work locations.
Education and Experience
- 2-year degree or certificate in computer science or related field and/or minimum of 2 years’ experience in customer support, computer operations, system administration or related area.
- Vendor Certification (MCP, MCSE, A+, etc.) or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems desirable.

The IS Technician provides support for the Slocum computer/telephone network.
