Description
At Slocum Orthopedics the Sterile Process Technician works in the on-site Ambulatory Surgery Center sterilizing equipment and instruments.
- Maintains a clean and orderly central processing work area(e.g. shelves, counters, equipment)
- Adheres to the sterilization process policies and procedures
- Cleans each item according to manufacturer’s instruction.
- Inspects instruments for damage and defects; lubricates items as required.
- Determines that each item is in good working condition.
- Sorts and arranges items into proper trays
- Wraps trays and individual items according to policy and procedure.
- Accurately labels each item with name and expiration date.
- Correctly operates sterilizers, Sterad, and other equipment for processing items.
- Positions items correctly in sterilizer and selects proper cycles.
- Checks indicators for proper functioning.
- Performs required biological/chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintains logs.
- Maintains availability of supplies for continuity of recording throughout sterilization process.
- Cleans sterilizers according to established policies and procedures.
- Maintains inventory levels and accurate records; Places items in correct locations.
- Checks for package integrity of wrapped sterilized items; replaces items as necessary.
- Maintains and updates the instrument tray inventory list.
- Accurately documents count of instruments loaned/returned to outside sources.
- Assists with Infection Control monitoring as necessary
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from High School or GED with training or courses in sterile technique
- Certification in Sterile Processing preferred with one year instrument processing technician experience preferred.
Summary
Slocum Orthopedics is currently recruiting for a full-time benefited Sterile Process Technician. This is a day shift (no call or weekends) position working in our on-site Ambulatory Surgery Center.
