EMERITUS RETIRED

As the president of the Slocum Research and Education Foundation, I’ve participated in numerous research studies, publications and presentations in the United States and around the world, along with publishing multiple research articles. I’ve also had the opportunity to travel the world for medical and surgical missions.

Upon completing my undergraduate with Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology, I went on to attend medical school with the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, graduating with special distinctions of the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. Following medical school, I completed my orthopedic residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and served my fellowship with the Australian Institute of Musculoskeletal Research in knee and sports medicine.

Today, I volunteer for a local pregnancy resource center, lead an undergraduate pre-health club, and participate in local missions including Agape Kids YoungLife, and church youth groups. I also serve on the board of the Eugene Ballet and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.

Outside of my medical practice, I enjoy reading and gardening, time with my family, and a variety of outdoor activities including cycling, nordic skiing, back-country skiing, river rafting, and kayaking.

Testimonials

“I went in for a knee replacement five years ago Dr Lantz is great he made me feel at ease also when my knee started hurting last year he gave me shots which helped a lot. He is a great doctor.”

“My 7 year old prosthetic knee failed. Brick Lantz replaced it and I am 3 weeks into my recovery and physical therapy and things are going great! I plan to be back to work within a month. This experience was very efficient and as pleasant as it could have been under the circumstances.”

“Outstanding patient and family care. Everyone, from the time we walked in the door until we returned to our car was amazing. Dr. Lantz and his staff made me feel like I was their Number 1 priority. I was confident that my care and well being was designed specifically for me and my concern. My family was kept informed of my progress. I was a patient of Dr. Slocum in 1953 during the Polio epidemic and today I am still walking. The Slocum dedication to patient care and improved quality of life is second to none. Thank you all for my good life and continued good care. ”

“Dr. Lantz has been extremely thorough in guiding me through my knee replacement. While any surgery is often uncomfortable during recovery, the results are well worth the discomfort. Pre-surgery I was given extensive materials to review and was able ask questions during my visits to Dr. Lantz. I felt confident that this was the correct path for me to take. Post surgery I have continued to ask questions about recovery and what to expect. Dr. Lantz has encouraged me and provided excellent care. I highly recommend him and his professional staff at Slocum.”

“I’ve always worked, played hard, and didn’t give my body a break, even when I turned 54. However, I was stopped in my tracks when I messed up my knee to the point I was dragging my leg along, barely able to walk. Two friends recommended Dr. Lantz. I was so thankful they did. With his recommendations, I am again able to walk like normal and do the things I enjoy. When I first saw Dr. Lantz, I was afraid I’d need a total knee replacement, but he quickly assured me I wouldn’t. I am absolutely amazed and SO THANKFUL that I’m doing so well in a fairly short amount of time. I appreciate Dr. Lantz’s knowledge, expertise, and the fact that he didn’t rush into unnecessary procedures. I would highly recommend Dr. Lantz.”

“Dr. Lantz was great. He figured out a major problem that three other doctors had missed. He laid out a great game plan, and I am happy to carry it out!”

“I have been seeing Dr. Lantz for almost 20 years and in that time, he has done three knee surgeries on my knees, including a total knee replacement in 2006. He runs a very efficient practice. There is little waiting time and he provides answers to any questions I have. Recently, after my last surgery, I was having some swelling issues around my knee and had become concerned about possible blood clots in conjunction with some upcoming long distance travel. I called the office at 9:00 a.m. and by noon; his PA Bridgett had arranged a sonogram appointment that day at 1:00 p.m. This type of response typifies Dr. Lantz and his office. Thank you.”

“Accurate, precise, and efficient is how I describe Dr. Lantz. He is a straightforward and no nonsense individual with a very positive attitude. I had a partially- ruptured quadricep tendon on my left knee and Dr. Lantz did an outstanding job on the surgical repair. Within 2 months after the surgery, I was able to walk normally again, and I will be able to run and jump again within 5 months after the surgery.”

“I had a Baker’s Cyst the second time I saw Dr. Lantz, this time the cyst was much worse. He didn’t mess around; he just took care of it. Drained it and got me back on my feet with minimal pain compared to where I was at before. He explained to me about the reasons why this cyst forms and the likelihood that I will need something corrective done in order to clear this up. I know of Dr. Lantz through his volunteer work with Churchill Athletics. I am impressed with his talents and with the way he interacts with the athletes and that is why I sought him out to take care of me. He did not disappoint. He is well respected and preferred by many. I feel confident in his care and appreciated the ability to see him in such a timely basis. Much thanks.”

“My torn rotator cuff kept me from holding my trumpet as I played with Blue Skies Big Band. I feared that I would have to quit the band because the pain was too intense, but now I have my arm back, and I can play 2-3 hours with NO pain. I leave the gig smiling with a song in my heart. Thanks, Dr. Lantz and your great staff.”
