Slocum offers a wide range of state-of-the-art imaging in one convenient location
At Slocum we believe in leveraging the best technology and the efficiency of having everything in one place creates better patient outcomes. At the Slocum Center, we invest in state-of-the-art technology because we feel it not only allows our specialists to do their jobs better, but that it also has a positive impact on our patients’ experience. Patients can have X-Rays, MRIs, CT Scans and Ultrasounds done at the Slocum Center, schedule consecutive appointments, receive faster results, create a shared medical record, and receive a single bill for services.
Digital X-Ray
Unlike traditional radiography, which uses photographic film to capture images of the human body, digital radiography stores its images in computer files, which allows the images to be available much more quickly. Digitally stored X-ray images can be viewed on any computer, tablet, or mobile device, which facilitates the sharing of information between doctors, better patient outcomes, and reduced costs. In some cases, digital radiography requires less radiation to achieve an image of similar contrast and clarity than that of traditional film-based radiography.
CT Scan
A CT scan, or computed tomography scan, is an advanced medical imaging procedure that combines multiple X-ray measurements taken from different angles to produce detailed cross-sectional images of the body. These images provide a 3D view of internal structures, organs, bones, and blood vessels. Unlike traditional X-rays, which provide a flat image, CT scans offer a layered, in-depth perspective. This technology aids doctors in diagnosing diseases, monitoring treatments, and planning surgeries by offering a clear visualization of internal anatomy without invasive procedures.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Slocum Orthopedics offers a range of diagnostic imaging services, including an onsite state-of-the-art high-field Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Scanner. We partner with Radiology Associates, P.C., the region’s premier imaging specialists, to provide MRI interpretive services. Sometimes we refer patients to alternative imaging centers based on individual preference.
Ultrasound
Musculoskeletal ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging tool that creates images of specific areas in the body using high-frequency sound waves. Ultrasound imaging is a precise way to guide injections into many joints or soft tissues in the body, which greatly improves accuracy and decreases the pain associated with injection procedures. Ultrasound imaging is noninvasive and involves no radiation, making the test very safe and comfortable for patients.
