“After a lifetime of knee problems and four surgeries, I once again found myself with a major problem. Being self employed and cancelled insurance years ago and living on the coast with nowhere to go, I called Slocum Center and got in the next day to see Dr. Koester. After X-rays and evaluating my knee, he said it is in bad shape but a replacement at this time was not the best option. At 59 years old, he said I needed to try and get some more years out of what I have. Plus, the cost is out of my range. He gave me an option for a series of injections that may help me. Then he said let me see if the drug manufacture will help with the cost as it was expensive and he will let me know. In a few days, I got a call with an appointment to come five weeks in a row to start treatment and I was ecstatic to get the help. Well here I am, three month later doing great. Considering I thought I was done being able to work, I am a contractor and commercial fisherman. I cannot thank Dr. Koester enough for his compassion and the help he gave me.
