Muscle/tendon Transfer

Effective surgical procedure for restoring muscle function

Muscle/tendon transfer is a surgical procedure where a healthy muscle or tendon is moved from one part of the body to another to restore function to a damaged or weakened area. The procedure is commonly used to treat conditions such as nerve injuries, paralysis, and muscle weakness caused by injury or disease. During the surgery, the surgeon makes an incision and carefully detaches the healthy muscle or tendon from its original attachment site. The muscle or tendon is then carefully repositioned to its new location and reattached using sutures or other fixation devices. After the procedure, patients typically undergo a period of rehabilitation and physical therapy to regain strength and mobility in the affected area. While muscle/tendon transfer can be a complex and invasive procedure, it can also be highly effective in restoring function and improving quality of life for patients with certain types of injuries or conditions.
