We are an Orthopedic Center for Everyone
We are proud of our role as a community leader in providing healthcare services, and we recognize the diversity of our providers and staff makes us a stronger and better organization. Providing equal access to our entire community is one of our key organizational values, which is why we provide community support by partnering with a diverse group of nonprofits in the area. Additionally, Slocum partners with many local and national educational centers to provide both shadowing and hands-on training to a diverse group of medical students, PA students, and future nurses to help guide the next generation of health care providers.
Our Staff Makes Us Who We Are
Slocum wants to ensure that all staff feel supported and encouraged to bring their whole self to work. We seek out staff feedback on diversity, equity, and inclusion issues, and have formed a DEI Committee of physicians and staff to identify and act on opportunities to continually improve. We actively seek out a diverse population of applicants for our organization, including racial and ethnic minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and other underrepresented groups.
Slocum is always seeking new ways to support our staff, and we encourage employees to give feedback and new ideas on how we can achieve this goal. Here are a few ways to support staff we have already identified:
- Our health plans include same and opposite sex domestic partners for coverage
- All staff are provided private, gender-neutral restrooms.
- We actively accommodate disabilities in the hiring process and in the workplace.
- We regularly examine our pay practices and organizational policies to ensure that they are fair, equitable, and inclusive.
- Staff and providers are invited to join a Diversity Committee to provide feedback directly to management and physician owners of the practice.
