Patient-Centered Shoulder Care in Eugene, OR

At Slocum Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, our shoulder experts are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat the unique intricacies of the human shoulder. Because we use our shoulders for both mobility and stability, including lifting, pushing, and pulling, the shoulder is a common source of aches and pains.

Often the result of repetitive motions used in sports, at work, or during daily activities, shoulder discomfort can range from tendinitis, arthritis, and bursitis to fractures, rotator cuff injuries, and instability issues. Whether your condition requires conservative treatment or advanced surgical care, our shoulder specialists have the expertise, experience, and skill to offer the expert care you need to live in motion.

Shoulder Replacement Surgery

Much like the hip or the knee, the shoulder joint can also be replaced if the joint is diseased or damaged, creating new joint surfaces in the shoulder. There are different approaches to shoulder replacement surgery, such as a total shoulder replacement or a partial shoulder replacement, and your shoulder surgeon will work with you to determine which procedure is best suited for your unique needs.

Through years of wear and tear on the joint structures, or in the event of a severe injury, your shoulder can develop enough damage that you experience:

• An inability to lift your arm above your head
• Pain that makes it difficult or impossible to carry weight with the affected arm
• Pain that makes it difficult to get to sleep at night
• Shoulder instability or clicking sounds when moving your shoulder

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, you may be a good candidate for shoulder replacement surgery.
