“I had a total hip replacement at Slocum Center in early November of 2015. Dr. Brian Jewett did the surgery. Prior to surgery, my wife and I were required to attend a class about the surgery and what to expect afterwards. We were very surprised to be the only patients attending. When we asked about this, we were told they held this session specifically to accommodate us so we could attend while we were already in Eugene to see Dr. Jewett! It felt as if I were the only and most important patient they had! We saw the doctor, the clinical director, the physical therapist, the anesthesiologist, and even someone from the finance department during our visit that day. Our questions were answered and not once did we feel rushed. Instead, we felt like we were part of a team who would work together with us to make my surgery and recovery successful! That day was just a foretaste of the treatment I received on surgery day by this group of warm and caring professionals. The day of surgery I had 2 – 3 wonderful nurses continually at my side. This was before, during, and after surgery, right up until they wheeled me out the door that afternoon. By the time I left, they felt like family! Words can not express the gratitude I feel for the excellent care I received at Slocum. I was a little apprehensive to “be from out of town” to have this surgery done, but my experience with the people at Slocum was well worth the trip!”
