Anterior Tibial Tubercleplasty

Effective Anterior Tibial Tubercleplasty for Knee Pain

Anterior Tibial Tubercleplasty is a surgical procedure that involves reshaping the bony prominence at the front of the shin bone, known as the anterior tibial tubercle. The procedure is typically performed to correct patellar instability or patellar maltracking, which can cause pain and discomfort in the knee joint. During the procedure, the surgeon will make a small incision in the knee and use specialized instruments to carefully remove a portion of the anterior tibial tubercle. The bone is then reshaped and repositioned to improve the alignment of the patella (kneecap) and reduce friction between the patella and femur (thigh bone). After the procedure, patients will need to rest and elevate their leg, as well as participate in physical therapy to help restore strength and range of motion to the knee joint.
